Hi friends!
Sorry I've neglected you!
You know the old cliche` "where did January go??? I have been doin' stuff, really.....
Just to prove it here's a little pictorial. I was on a roll. Loved how it turned out and Shari, my son's girlfriend loved it too.

It started out like this. A bit of paper here, a bit of glimmer mist there.

Add some masks and texture paste. Crackle the scroll and spray with Tattered Angels Chalkboard Spray.

Sand the whole thing back vigorously.

Placement of the photo's. The heart was painted first and then covered with fusible film.

Highlights and shadows were added where needed.

Matisse Iridescent was painted here and there and then blasted with the old heat gun to get that gorgeous bubbly look.

The photos were added with texture paste and glue. Note to self, don't get glimmer mist on photo, it doesn't like it.

Add stamped serviettes here and there. This was a technique I learn't at a Nathalie Kalbach's class. Notice the little clear envelope in the corner. It contains little inspirational quotes for Shari. Looking at it in the photo it looks a little busy, but overall I was very happy with the result. Thanks for checking it out.

I know tags are all the go around this time of year and I suppose a little of Tim Holtz has rubbed off on me as of late, what can I say he is addictive! Although I don't own a lot of his products it hasn't stopped me experiementing with a few of his techniques.

With this tag I just sprayed an ordinary old luggage tag with Tattered Angels "Peppermint Stick", inked around the edges with the old vintage photo ink pad and dropped a bit of water here and there. Now Holly. Didn't think I had much in that line but then I remembered an old little sizzix die cut I had tucked away in the draw somewhere that would be ideal, thanks for reminding me Sarah! I didn't have the right colored ribbon so I sprayed that too. Can you see the cool little rusty star at the top? Cool hey! The rest is history. Just ask if you need any other info.

I've been hinting for quite awhile now about the possiblity of owning a bike. After-all we do live on a lake which boasts one of the best bike tracks on the coast. Lord knows I really need a reason to exercise now my darling dog has gone. So when Kev asked me to meet him at the local bike shop to check out a bike I knew, just knew there really is a Santa Claus! Meet IVY, isn't she gorgeous! I finally got to go for a ride today as the rain has been pelting down all week and guess what happened? No I didn't fall off. About a hour from home, FLAT TYRE! sigh. Just a small set back, I'll be back biking before ya know it.

These quickies were taken from one of my favourite time waster websites, in a nice way of course.

I copied this card from a lady on Splitcoaststampers. You can see the original here.

This one is a little like the one here. The background on this one was done by loading ink onto your acrylic block, be careful not to overload it with ink like I did.

With this one I made a template cutting out a rectangle section. I laid it over the white card stock and sponged three different colours over the white. Keeping the template in place I stamped the flowers (?) on the bottom. The cute little birdies where bought from TYPO for $5, bargain hey!!

ATC Swap...anyone up for it???

True to being the slacker that I am, I am only just getting round to posting about an ATC swap that I was supposed to organize on behalf of our decorative artists association. I thought it would be a good idea to expose some of our members to the joys of ATC's and what better way than to announce it to the world.

Our small group of artists have been swapping ATC's for a little while now but sad to say, we are getting a little bogged down and would like some inspiration. The theme for the swap is A Splash of Turquoise and the usual rules apply. Just do 9 of the same and add them to a folder and send to me. If you would like to participate just let me know and I will send you my address. I think a month to do them is pretty feasible. To those girls whose have already given me their ATC's don't despair! I'm sure we'll get some interesting submissions (please don't let me down blog friends!) LOL!

A little inspiration

We all need a little outside inspiration don't we? A couple of weeks ago I went over to Pages2Scrap my local (aren't I lucky) papercraft store and did a workshop with the amazing Rachel Greig from Darkroom Door. Here is the finished product:

The canvas measures 20cm x 20cm or 8 x 8 inches and the individual tile measure 5 x 5cm or 2 x 2 inches. Each tile was treated with a different technique using Viva Decor texture mediums called Terra, Ferro and Croco and Viva Decor Precious Metal Colours. Here is a close up:

I really enjoyed this workshop and it certainly helped getting the creative juices flowing. Thanks Rachel!

Well I know its been a while. I took a short break ok? My little business (Gourmet@Home) has been keeping me a little busy not to mention a little lack lustre in the creative department. As some of you may or may not know I have started a "personal chef" business and I'm starting to get a few jobs. Not many but enough to keep me off the streets. I love it! So far I have done a lunch party for Eric who turned 90. A surprise party for 15 people with a 3 course menu, a staff incentive lunch for 15 people and a VIP day serving Hot Chocolate and Churros. Quite diverse hey? So if you hate cooking but love entertaining I'm the person for you. I'm on facebook so if you'd like to see some photos please visit. Meanwhile here's some little ones.

This is what happens when you don't overthink it.

Continuing along with the one layer idea I whipped the starfish number up in no time at all. I just sponged over a cut out template with some glimmermist, took the template away and let it dry then stamped with brown versamark. Tied some satin binding around the edge and voila!

This then lead to this which I love.

Base card is Kraft. Next layer is watercolor paper sprayed with glimmermist (the colors of which I have temporarily forgotten) then run through the big shot, sanded and with the scrap paper left over I stamped Darkroom Door Butterflies and the word Harmony in brown versamark (cos it just happened to be there) added a pin and Bobs your Uncle!

My niece Tracey has just turned 40! I know I can't believe it myself. She gave herself a rip roaring party with a theme of black, white, red and silver. She had this amazing birthday cake which consisted of Red Velvet Cupcakes with cream cheese icing and edible rose petals. I tried to get a photo but I think I had too much to drink by this stage. I will post it anyway along with the card I made for Tracey. The photo of the card isn't great either but the background scrolls are embossed silver and the butterfly's are from Darkroom Door. I have just bought this stamp and have already used it heaps.

Came home tired but happy. What a wonderful day at the Good Food Show at Darling Harbour. Yeah you can argue that it was expensive to get in but what with all the generous give aways it was worth it. Got to see some great chefs in action and some great products tasted, and didn't have to buy lunch, great wine. Best of all I got to snuggle up to Tobie!

Apart from the gentle wizzing sound of the baby, spoken about previously, and, I might add not yet properly named, HEY I just had an epiphany! The Baby's arrived

I have been like an expectant mother waiting for an overdue baby. Yes I do know how that feels, really, what with both my children being overdue. For something that was supposed to take 10 to 15 days this little bundle blew out to an amazing three month wait. God I was beside myself with anticipation and anxiety. I did try to go about my daily duties but there, in the back of my existence was this niggling little feeling that my life was on hold for some reason. That reason arrived today. Bought over the internet for a much reduced price but, never the less still an exhorbenant amount, you can imagine I was just a touch concerned that my little bundle would actually find its way to me. So just as I was about to pick up the phone, or on this occasion, hit the keyboard to send an email, it arrived. No I wasn't home to greet it but husband was. He was on the phone to me like a shot to announce "its here!" as he too has been a little subdued and quiet about the arrival of our little bundle. So without much more adieu (ado) I present ........ "The Kitchen Aide!!!!!!!!!!"

As most of you know I am a Vietnamese foody. Well I met my nemisis on Friday and have the photos to prove it! Hubby and I had a beautiful 5 course lunch at Red Lantern in Surry Hills. The food was spectacular but the hilight, no not the service, which was spectacular, not the beautifully cooked and presented food, but seeing LUKE NGUYEN! He actually served us our meal and explained all the ingredients! I fully recommend you go, but word of warning, its a 10 week wait. Here's a few photo's to whet your appetite.

A fantastic weekend in the city visiting the kids really gets the juices going when it comes to photographing shadows. I was able to get some beauties! None of the kids though. This photo was taken at Blackwattle Bay in Glebe. Its a lovely walk along the waterfront with the view of the Anzac bridge. Along the walking path were these constructions which I believe were the old storage sheds and incinerator from the 1900's. They were designed by Walter Burley Griffin and operated from 1934 to 1949. I'm sure if you head over to Hey Harriet you'll see some more inspiring photos.

High Tea at Cathy's

On the Saturday before Mothers Day our little artist's association had a high tea at Cathy's place. Now Cathy has the perfect place for a high tea. We were surrounded by the most beautiful pieces of china, which she collects. We all bought our own favorite cup and saucer and a plate of delicious food and told the story behind our choice of cup and why it was so special to us. Cathy went to a lot of trouble from having Andre Rieu playing to organizing proper parlour games to having the table beautifully set. She also had a beautifully printed booklet printed explaining the history of High Tea! Thanks Cathy all your efforts were very much appreciated! We all had a lovely time!

To all my friends, Happy Mothers Day! I had a quiet but happy mothers day today. My beautiful daughter and her partner came and spent the night and we had a lovely dinner together. Unfortunately my son was unable to come. Breakfast the next morning was cooked by me (of course) eggs benedict, bacon and corn fritters were on the menu, then it was off to the cemetery to see my darling Mum who has missed 12 Mothers'Days now. It doesn't get any easier but it was such a lovely day at the cemetery that people were picnicking on the grounds. Such a beautiful place. Then it was off to some plant nurseries and a quest to find coffee. Unsuccessful. So being Mother's Day it was my pick for the DVD. I picked a soppy love story. Lovely!

My friend Lynn and I had the privilege to participate in a workshop held at Pages2scrap
I'm sure I speak for Lynn when I say that we had a great time and learnt so much. Nathalie was a lovely teacher and what an awesome job she has! Try travelling around the world teaching your stuff to eager aspiring artists! Yes please! In the top photo is me and Nathalie and my creation. If you can (not sure if it will work) click on the picture to enlarge and check the awesome saying that is written on the wall. Now I've got to say also that this piece is a work in progress and as I have been known to say, "One doesn't really do one's best work in a workshop", but really I was quite happy with the results.
In the top photo is myself and Nathalie. I am the one in black holding the picture but what I think is cool is the saying behind us, it reads, "To think creatively we must be able to LOOK afresh at what we normally take for granted".

Passionfruit Soufflè

Yep I think it worked!! The recipe said serves 1 so I doubled it. Turned out it served 2 so four soufflès later.... but it gave me some practice with timing and temperatures and it gave hubby 2 desserts!!! So who's complaining????? I used Neil Perry's version on Lifestyle Food. It even comes with a video.

I nearly nearly missed SSS today. I remembered just in time. This carved wooden bowl is one I "inherited" from my Mum and Dad. The reason I gained it is because I was actually there when it was purchased in New Guinea way back in the '70s. This fruit however, has a not so long life span. Later on tonight I am going to have a go at my very first Passionfruit Souffle. Stay tuned, if it turns out you'll see a photo!

I've just rediscovered Angelina! Remember back on Princess Frou Frou? The wish tag was covered with a shiny substance? I had actually done the tag awhile ago while playing around with Angelina but I didn't realize how good it looked until I attached it to a coloured card. Then a friend gave me some of her Angelina in a different colour so I went to work. Hope you get something from the pictures and I hope I can explain a little along the way. I might add though, I wasn't quite happy with how the butterflies turned out. I think I will play around a bit more and use grunge paper next time. Also I don't think the embossing is all that necessary. If you would like to purchase some Angelina my other best friend (LOL) Lynn kindly found out for me that you can purchase it through Interweave, you know the people that publish Cloth Paper Scissors. Another supplier is http://www.uniquestitching.com.au/ . If you would like to see some more inspiring work go to Linda Baldock's blog. Check out some of her tutorials as well. So here we go.

Spray or paint card board or grunge paper with colour

Cut and emboss required shape (althought the embossing can get a little lost on the end result) Paint a generous coat of Gel Medium Cover with Angelina film and cut around edges. As you heat with the heat gun you will see that the edges will curl around the back of the card. I am a little heavy handed with the heat gun so mine have a few holes but I tend to like the effect.

You can make the wings stand up while the film is still warm. Hope you find this interesting and after playing around I have come across some great colours. So don't be afraid to experiment!

Princess Frou Frou

I thought I'd share with you a picture of the card I made for my friend Debbie's birthday. Now my friend Deborah is a princess. She'll tell you herself that she is a princess, but she's really lovely, I love that about her. She invited us to her birthday party which turned into a great night. Great company, great food, and great company. Thanks Debbie for a lovely night!

Now about the card. I know I am a little bit slack on the instructions for some of my stuff, I am just lazy about those sorts of things but I should really make the effort to share, afterall isn't that what it's all about? I just have to remember now how I did it.LOL. The base card was a pinky colour. The back ground piece was originally gloss white which I stamped with Stampin Up Medallion and En Francais and embossed with silver. Got a bit heavy handed with the old heat gun here and overheaded it. It went a bit flaky. No mistake, just a happy accident. Then I sprayed over it with glimmermist colour Peppermint Stick (love this colour) and just watered it down in one corner with a spray of water. Dried again with heat gun (which didn't help the embossing again!) Added the butterfly and the grey bit. The WISH tag was made from grunge board painted red, dried, painted with Gel Medium and then covered with Angelina Fusible Iridescent Film crystal mother of pearl colour. WISH was a rub on. Added ribbon and a flower (obvious) ummmm thats it!

Look what I got!!

This gorgeous tag was sent to me by Carola, she is an amazing photographer who is from Germany but is presently living in the United States. When I had a closer look at the card it came with, I saw that she had also taken the photo as well. Carola also loves to create in mixed media and gives us step by step photos of her creations.

This generous gift was sent to me by the beautiful Michelle over at ~Que Bella~. Not only have I recieved the journal but Michelle jammed it chocka-block with gorgeous papers and added the stickers as well.

Lastly this stunning piece of vintage jewellery was sent to me by Holly. She and her talented son work with all things beady. I have worn this several time and each time it has not gone without a comment from someone. The little tags says "KISSES". It wasn't until I loaded the photo that I realized the locket was not facing the front, so for a better look go and see Holly. She also has an etsy shop so go and check out Tuscan Road

This little (read big) bookmark started out supposedly following in the fashion of a tutorial that my friend Janine over at Jeanysbrunnen gave. But typical of me I digress somewhat. I promise Janine I'll have another go at Oxidizing Bronze, I promise. Oh and I made it for this months Inkurable Challenge.

Well I got the first step right.

The Darkroom Door Luggage tag was painted in gold acrylic paint and allowed to dry. It was then run through the Big Shot using the tapestry folder. I then sprayed it with Dragonfly glimmermist and a home-made purple ink spray. Dry it with the heat gun and then spritz with water and gently dab away some of the top layer of ink to reveal the gold. I machine stitched around the edge adding the Tim Holtz scroll., sewed ribbon and metal corner to the bottom. Stamped the word LOVE onto a hand-made piece of paper in stazon and sprayed with glimmermist and attached by sewing. The leather flower and tassells are from an old belt and the heart is from a piece of lace. The reverse side is also another DD tag which I scrunched up and then smoothed out. Sprayed with glimmermist and spritzed with water and dried with heat gun. You can see a couple of scorch marks which were a happy accident. Stamps are Tim Holtz and distress inked around the edges.

This is just a couple of gift tags that I'll give to Trin for her shop. I got the inspiration from Belinda Spencer over at Darkroom Door. My friend Trin's shop is a gorgeous place full of beachy loveliness so these will go well.
At this moment in time I have to thank Lisa Swiftka for the sensational time I had participating in the final One World One Heart blog hop. I have been truly blessed and will recieve 3 gorgeous gifts from some talented people. I have visited artists all over the world and have made great friends with some very inspiring people. I had the BEST time ever!

Thank you to all of you who have visited my humble blog. Now 100 comments later I think I'll celebrate. Pop!!! (thats the champagne!) I am in awe at the talent out there. Thank goodness my hubby is away, otherwise I wouldn't be able to spend so much time blog surfing. I too feel I have been away on holiday. The best holiday ever! I don't know if I'm allowed to do this but I thought seeing as.... you know 100 comments is a lot, that I would offer another door prize. Hubby has gone to Cambodia. A well deserved holiday. What about me you ask? Well I had my holiday back in October with some of my gorgeous gal pals. What a blast! So hubby has gone with our darling son and his girlfriend and I'm sure they'll have a blast too. It suddenly hit me though that I wouldn't be sharing this seclusion with my beautiful Narla. Coming home is the worst, not seeing her waiting to be let in at the back door. I'll just have to cook. I had a beautiful morning going to our local food markets, and yet I bought way too much food for one person. All the stuff that hubby doesn't like. Stay tuned to see what I whip up! Oh by the way, loving everyones comments. Now I'm only looking after me, I thought I might make another tag to give away. Again stay tuned.

One World One Heart

One World One Heart the wonderful creation of Lisa Swifka to commorate her Mum. This is the fifth and final year and I am proud to be part of the adventure. Just click on the link to see more.

Here's what I'd love you to have....its a wooden tag which has been painted white and has a piece of embossed paper adhered to the surface. I have glued a metal butterfly onto it. I have wiped over the surface with an iridescent paint to give it a shine. I raided my daughter's beads and dangled them from the butterfly. I have to admit though....I think it looks better in real life. I do have a couple more but I am a little behind (see previous post).

A heavy heart

It's with a very sad and heavy heart that I tell you that we lost our beautiful Narla today. She suffered an internal bleed and thankfully she was in no pain and didn't suffer. What a beautiful companion she was to hubby and I. She will be greatly missed.

Every month a small group of girls get together for our Decorative Artists Association meetings. For the last year or so we have been swapping Friendship pages which we display in an album. Its just a way of giving each other a little piece of our art and hopefully inspiration or technique to use in the future. So..... over the next few posts I'll treat you to some of the beautiful pieces I have received and some of my own as well. Firstly we decorated the cover of our albums. Just had a few busy days with my little nieces, Abbie and Emma. It was lovely to have some time with them as they have just returned from living in Dubai. We finished off the visit with a trip to Newtown to see cousin Jess and partner Lachlan and do lunch. Check the size of these burgers! We went to MOO. Needless to say, we won't be eating dinner.

Its way too hard to feel any sort of happy vibes at the moment what with the TV showing the devastation the floods have caused in Queensland. Just for a small amount of time though a couple of friends and myself got together to oooh, aaahhhh, pat, purr, and salivate over our friend Lynn's recent blog win from Lesley over at Harmony Road Studio. They look even better in the flesh and we couldn't stop looking at them! It seemed surreal to think that these gorgeous pieces of art were created by a person from the other side of the world! Thanks Lesley, although it was Lynn's win we all benefitted! We have hopes of getting together again to create a few tags of our own, if we can only stop looking at them!

On another note I'd like to tell you about some amazing artists who are helping to raise money for the flood victims. Take a visit to Jillygg as she has organized a silent auction of some fantastic artwork from some very talented and generous artists.

Tidy?? I don't think so! I did make these in a bit of a hurry but all in all they turned out OK. You know when you're getting ready for an outing with the hubby and you get a sudden urge to make something. Even as my darling husband threateningly uttered those famous last words, "I'm getting the car out"! I was still hurriedly adding bits.

The card with the red button is one I sent to some friends who I'd forgotten to send a Christmas card to. The stamps used are quite unusual and the set was given to me for Christmas by my son. They are so cute!

Flash fried Scallops on a bed of Chorizo and Red Capsicum

At the risk of turning this into a foodie blog I really have to share this recipe we had for our entree at christmas lunch.

It was quite simple really. You just finely chop chorizo, chargrilled red capsicum and onion and fry in a little butter, garlic and smoked paprika. Clean the pan and add a little oil (and butter if you like) and heat until really hot. Quickly flash fry the scallops on each side. Spoon Chorizo onto cleaned scallop shells and top with scallops and dust with something green. These little darlings tasted divine and we're quite filling so don't be tempted (like me) and serve too many aspecially if its going to be an entree.

Now that I have a little more time I can indulge my passion and participate in this months challenge at Inkurable Stampers.

I stamped SU french flair with brown stazon onto gloss white paper. After letting it dry I sanded vertically and then horizontally until the paper had lost its gloss. Then I sponged over with SU Pumpkin Pie and Tim Holtz Distress Antique Linen and when dry I sanded it again. Next I sprayed water over and sponged off some of the ink drying it thoroughly with the heat gun and finally sanded again. Stamped the Darkroom Door Art de Fleur image and sentiment with brown stazon. Distressed the edges and attached some copper tape ( I think its usually used for stained glass windows) and fashioned a rosette flower with a bit of bling (does this look familiar Lynn?). Finally I attached it to lime green card stock.

I have the best sisters in the world! Yesterday my two gorgeous sisters and I went to Masterchef the show! What a day! We all love food so you can imagine. We stuffed our faces, had a laugh, made a few suggestions to a big supermarket chain on how to run their business, did a bit of networking and met with some incredibly lovely people. We came home broke, tired but happy. Some of our purchases included a 3kg christmas pudding (Val's) Chocolates (Sue's) and Olives and Dips (mine). Val definitely had the heaviest bag.

Our new house is starting to be our home and I just love this new wall art from Trin's shop 'Drift'. It matches perfectly with out new timber floor. Now I have to convince hubby to start painting the lounge.

The reason I'm feeling this way is I have now finished my Commercial Cookery course. No more TAFE, no more homework, no more assignments. What am I going to do with my time??

Maybe I can find the time to more of this.

After I settle down a bit I hope to become a chef in a little cafe somewhere. Hopefully there's a happy little cafe out there just waiting for me to cook in it. Its been a hectic year but I've loved every minute of it. What with selling our home of 22 years, buying a new house, having a fantastic holiday with my girlfriends and still working part-time at my other job my poor art work and blog has been sadly neglected. Thanks everyone for sticking around I promise not to neglect you any longer.

This month's challenge over at Inkurable Stampers is "Shabby Chic Christmas". I got to admit I had to google this one! Of course I know what shabby chic is but all I could conjure up in my mind was pink and green. So thats what I did.

My ATC was mounted on pink card stock. The background was from Webster Pages with sponging around the edges. I stamped the christmas tree (from Stampin Up's Lovely as a Tree) in pink pirouette tipped in wild wasabi and added a little sparkle. Not sure where the word JOY came from. Added a little silver charm and some velvet ric rac and a distressed pink star on top. All up I was pleased with the results. Anyone want to do a swap????

I'm so sorry I've been neglectful. Life is just getting in the way. In a good way of course. Even just thinking about what has been happening to me in the last few months is scary. Where to start......Firstly I've moved house, next comes my holiday to Vietnam and to throw into the chaos I'm still going to TAFE and now I have to do some work experience in several restaurants to gain some knowledge from working in the industry. How crazy does that sound! I'd like to share with you, just a few, some photo's from my fantastic holiday with 3 of my girlfriends to Vietnam. It was the best time ever! From the time we got picked up in the Limo (Julie's surprise) to the end. We stayed in a gorgeous place called Hoi An, did a cooking school, ate fantastic food, saw beautiful art and shopped! All in one week.

At the moment we are negotiating about selling our house. It's such a long and drawn out process to-ing and fro-ing about price. How do you put a price on 22 years of memories? After having a mini meltdown the other morning, I have realized that its the right thing to do and it's time for us to move on. Now its just a matter of getting rid of 22 years of accumulated crap! The photo I leave you with today isn't of my house, instead it's a photo of one of my very favorite places. It's where I escape too when things get too hard.

Yeah I know it that I have been really really slack in posting on my blog. Sorry, I really am. Life just gets in the way doesn't it? Mail Art for Inkurables

The plain white envelope was first stamped with the Stampin Up Medallion in three different oranges. Inkadinkadoo birds were first stamped in Basic Gray colour and then stamped and heat embossed with white embossing powder. Distress ink Tumbled Glass was smudged over the envelope leaving an area clear for the address. The edges were done with Not quite Navy ink. Sending sunshine from Darkroom Door and stamp stamp from Cavellini.

As you know I'm training to be a chef. Most of my creativity has been channelled into my cooking lately. Sad but true. Yesterday it was a 3:00am start and it was off to the Sydney Fish Markets for a school excursion to learn all about fish and crustaceans. As a lover of any seafood it was a real eye-opener into how it actually gets to our table. I certainly have a new appreciation and the reason why some seafood is so costly. Afterwards it was onto the taping of READY STEADY COOK. It was a great experience, and, we got a goody bag and a photo!!

Rachel over at Darkroom Door put out a call for people to mail an envelope which they had decorated with Darkroom Door products so they would be able to display them on their SIA booth . They recieved quite a few and you can check out the photos on the Darkroom Door site. Check out the lovely display of stamps and if you have really really really good eyesight you maybe able to make out some of the new products coming onto the market soon. Oooohhh I wish I could have been there!

Red,Black & White was an interesting challenge. Not the usual colours I deal with, but then again..... what are the usual colours I choose? I'm lovin' Soft Suede (Stampin Up!) and Basice Grey, oh and distress inks, just love them too. Tumbled glass is the most gorgeous blue. Its funny how you get stuck in a small rut. So I think doing Inkurable challenges helps you get right out of that rut and onto other ideas. Here's what I did.

I thought it was about time I introduced you to our furry baby. Narla isn't a baby anymore. She's 14. Not as perky as she used to be and likes life to be a little on the quiet side. She is suffering from a disease called Cushings Disease. She is ok though, and so far the only symptoms are a unsatiable thirst and a ravanous appetite. She has never been one to be a scavenger but of late I constantly trip over her in the kitchen. We still love her though!

The first card was stamped on hand made paper. Stamp image on the paper with Stazon Black. Blend around the edges very carefully with a blending tool loaded with Antique Linen Distress Ink. Get the old trusty sewing machine out and sew the corners of the hand made paper and light blue cardstock. Use aqua pen and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and colour in flower, add button and DD sentiment and you're done!

The next two are as easy as! Just stamp the image in Tumble Glass and Basic Gray sew around the edges add a bit of fibre and a button. The edges of the gray one were torn and inked.
These last three are pretty self explanitary. Stamped and embossed and popped. Done!

I just love making these little cards. They are so quick and the Darkroom Door stamps really lend themselves to this size.

Inkurable Birthday Challenges

Challenge No.3
The base card stock is soft suede from Stampin up. The next layer is 7 Gypsies and lastly very vanilla. I stamped the bird in soft suede x 2 and used the 7 gypsies paper to back the oval. I used the stamp resist method and stamped the scroll in versamark and clear embossed it. I used the blending tool to blend the Tumbled Glass and Antique Linen Distress inks over the very vanilla cardstock. Finally I added a ribbon and a sentiment from Darkroom Door.
Challenge No.2
The 2x4 inch cardstock is a pale brown colour. I added a darker piece of cardstock and then another piece of cardstock in a tan colour. The tan piece was stamped with a scroll stamp and smudged around the edges with Distress Walnut Stain. I added the picture with was from Studio 45 and attached it with sanded back orange brads. I added a scrap piece of handmade paper and stamped over it with a scroll stamp and walnut ink. The star is grunge board painted with moonglow and heated.

Challenge No.1

ATC base card is purple cardstock. The next layer is water colour paper which has been stamped with Basic Grey scroll stamps and versamark. Embossed with clear embossing powder. I then sprayed over with various colours of Moon glow sprays and wiped over to reveal the scrolls. With the left over paper I stamped Darkroom Door ATC Stamps in Stazon Black and versamark and embossed in clear embossing powder. I cut out the little pictures and popped with a backing of the purple cardstock. Finally I added a gorgeous butterfly charm.

I thinks its time to share what we did after we went to Sarah's Inkurable Birthday party! We had a fantastic time with great people, conversation, party games, party food and drink, although the last two were supplied by me! It was excellent to be able to talk to all the girls who regularly submit to the blog and we even had several overseas visitors drop by. Thanks Gio and els. Some great prizes were won playing bingo and crazy captions and a trivia game, at which I was pathetic at. Thanks for all your organization Sarah!

Got some new toys.

Yep went out and bought myself some new toys. I had to. After religously leaving a comment every day for fifteen days on DD's blog did I win nooooo....but congrats to those who did. So it left me no choice, thats right, no choice but to go and buy them. Don't know what happened but several Distress inks found their way into the parcel too. Here's the results. Be mindful that these little puppies are only gift card size. Hoping to post some larger cards soon.

Best Birthday EVER!

I have just had the bestest birthday ever! It started out with hubby and I travelling down to Sydney to meet up with my darling daughter. A short taxi ride saw us excitedly embarking on what I called my pilgrimage to Mecca. Woollara is a foodie's heaven. It's the home of Simon Johnson, Donna Hay and the most incredable butcher shop I have ever seen. Next it was onto High Tea at the Victoria Rooms in Darlinghurst, just daughter and I, which was a special treat from Jess for my birthday. A short walk through Hyde Park to check out Jess's office and then back to Newtown to indulge in a cocktail made by my beautiful boy. Finally finishing with dinner with hubby and back to the hotel exhausted after a big day. Breakfast with the kids and then home. Lastly I had drinks with three of my besties and a take away thai for dinner. Fantastic! Thankyou to all who were instrumental in making this one brilliant birthday.

Hello my friends, if you are seeing any spelling mistakes we must blame the fact that I'm sporting a recent injury. Being a super chef isn't so hot when you cut little chunks out of the middle of your finger nail. Not nice at all! No sympathy from my fellow class mates. Yes and I was very brave and didn't DARE pass out, which I have been known to do on previous occasions. Its all going very well, now. I was very daunted at first. All the theory was a little scarewee but now I know whats expected I'm settling down a bit. The cooking part isn't so bad but you know when you have cooked the most basic thing for the whole of your life and can even knock it up in your sleep and it turns out perfect every time, well that doesn't happen in class. I failed crumbed chicken!!! The teacher even said that if he had been given it at a restaurant, he would send it back!!! Gasp! And as for quiche, failed that as well, but I can knock up a mean Cabernet jus. Thank you all for your enquiries on how things are going. Yes I can finally say that I am enjoying the course. My class mates are an eclectic mix. The young ones are soooo funny.
